Cabinet seeks survey on govt jobs occupied by expatriates ‘Finance’ to be submitted list of to be retired employees

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 22: The Council of Ministers has issued a directive asking all governmental establishments to conduct a survey on the jobs currently occupied by the expatriate workforce, as part of measures to replace the foreign workers with Kuwaiti personnel, reports Al-Anba daily.

Government sources stated the letter, addressed to governmental bodies, has emphasized the importance of implementing the Kuwaitization policy in a way that will not affect the level of performance in government sector, so the list will be sent to Civil Service Commission (CSC) for further study.

Also, it required governmental establishments to present to the Ministry of Finance the list of names of employees who are about to retire in fiscal year 2014/2015, according to legal retirement age, employment cadre and Kuwaitization program, employment cadre and the end of contract for foreigners.

The Cabinet was keen on pointing to the importance of preparing a clear list for the Ministry of Finance specifying the number of personnel in leadership positions who are due for retirement.

Meanwhile, several MPs have affirmed that government is asking them to wait until the Constitutional Court issues its verdict on the constitutionality of the incumbent National Assembly to be able to set the work plan for endorsing national proposals, which include the proposal to reduce the retirement age, salary increment, child support allowance, and allow employees to have two jobs.
