Special forces disperse Bedoun demo

A number of illegal residents (Bedoun) held a protest in Taima area recently during which they raised Kuwaiti flags and a large picture of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah. However, Security Forces managed to disperse the gathering, seized the Amir’s picture and arrested the individual responsible for carrying the picture. An informed source revealed that the Special Anti-Riot Forces used tear gas to disperse the protesters because the demonstration was unauthorized and the organizers defied previous warnings from the Interior Ministry against holding such demonstrations.

Meanwhile, an official source from the Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in response to a rumor that Saudi government has prohibited entry of Bedouns into the holy land with private vehicles to perform Umrah, clarified that the government’s directives stipulates that the issuance of Umrah visa to applicants requires registration with authorized caravans in Kuwait. He explained that the directive is binding on every resident in Kuwait as in other countries whereby the caravans provide accommodation and transportation.
