‘Unable to stop Syria-bound people’ ‘Similar names caused confusion’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: In response to the news published by Al-Seyassah daily last Sunday and its clarification the next day on the death of two Kuwaitis in Syria while fighting alongside Hezbollah in Syria, the Syrian opposition website ‘We are all Partners’ the main source of information spoke of the similarity in names of the two dead persons with the football players — Hussein Fadhel and Khaled Khalaf. The website confirmed both men dead but they are different people, reports Al- Seyassah daily. The site even published the picture of the tomb and the gravestone of one of the fallen Hussein Fadhel Muhammad to prove that he actually died in Syria and said he was born in Kuwait. The similarity in name was cause of confusion.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al- Jarallah was recently quoted as saying the authorities are unable to stop what he called ‘the flow’ of Kuwaitis going to Syria to fight alongside the opposition, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The Undersecretary in a special statement to Radio ‘Sawa’ spoke of the difficulties faced by the authorities in Kuwait to identify persons leaving for Syria. Al-Jarallah added, “From time to time the authorities in Kuwait receive news reports about Kuwaitis fighting in Syria, but we have neither confirmed information nor names, so it becomes difficult to identify those who have left for Syria to fight.”
