Pope Francis lauds Kuwait peace efforts

VATICAN CITY, Dec 12, (KUNA): Pope Francis of the Catholic Church expressed his appreciation to the role played by the Kuwaiti leadership in achieving world peace, dialogue and solidarity. The Pope made this remark during a meeting with the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Switzerland and non-resident Ambassador to the Vatican Bader Al-Tunaib, and other newly appointed envoys.

Al-Tunaib told KUNA, Thursday, that he relayed to the Pope a message from His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on bilateral ties and Kuwait’s appreciation to the efforts made by the Pope to spread peace and closeness among people.

The Pope, meanwhile, lauded the “excellent” ties with Kuwait and relayed similar greetings to His Highness the Amir. Kuwait is considered one of the first Gulf States that established diplomatic ties with the Vatican back in 1969; a sign of Kuwait’s dedication to promoting world peace and open dialogue among different civilizations.
