Q8Racing revel in success at ‘GulfRun’ race We’re very proud of the drivers: Al Mudhaf

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 10: Q8Racing continue to revel in their recent successes at the recently held “GulfRun 24HR Karting Endurance3” race held at the SIRBB Circuit in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area of Kuwait. Speaking to Arab Times, the lead driver of the team, Azzam Al-Otaibi, said the team’s success at the event was the result of consistent training on circuits across the Middle East. “The overnight driving I had to handle with my colleague in the team, was to me business as usual since some of the practice sessions I’ve been through had been more grueling and tiring”, he noted.  Ahmed Al-Mudhaf, CEO and Founder of GulfRun for his part said “We have witnessed an exciting race in which 17 teams completed the race.  We are very proud of the drivers who participated and the atmosphere at the circuit was very special.” Ahmed AlMajed, CEO and Founder of Pro-Vision Sports Management added that “The SIRBB circuit proved to be an excellent venue for the Karting endurance race with the changes we implemented on the circuit.”

The Wataniya GulfRun 24HR Endurance Karting-3 is organized by GulfRun and Pro-Vision Sports Management with the support of Kuwait Quarter Mile Club.  The race follows international regulations and certified marshals fly in from the UK to regulate it in accordance with FIA regulations.   The 18 teams comprise of 4 to 12 drivers per team who drive a maximum stint time of roughly 2 hours, after which they switch drivers, and keep going for 24 hours of non- stop racing. The GulfRun Karting Endurance Race was first launched in 2011 to create an exciting competition in Kuwait that aligns with GulfRun’s objective to promote automobile racing and training in a safe and secure environment and karting is one of the pillars of motorsports.
 

GulfRun and Pro-Vision Sport Management team extend their gratitude to Kuwait’s private sector for their continuous support. By that support the private sector acknowledges the important role sport plays amongst Kuwait’s youth. GulfRun 24HR Karting Endurance Race is supported by a wide range of sponsors: Title sponsorship by Wataniya Telecom, Strategic Partner SIRBB Circuit, Platinum Sponsors Audi, Algida, Gulf Cables, Jashanmal, and Consolidated Contractors Company, Gold sponsorship by Slider Station, Al-Sawan Co., Dealership sponsor Hyundai. Q8Racing won the Championship title as well as the overall best team, having completed 2243 laps to top all others in the elite class. McDonald’s finished in second place with 2233 laps followed by GulfCable who completed 2223 laps. 
 

Elsewhere in the Silver Class, Pro-Riders Club clinched the championship in that category after completing 2168 laps, followed in second place by Ali Akghanim team with 2159 laps and Team JPS in third place with 2158 laps. Other awards included Best Team Captain, Coolest team, Best Organized team with McDonald’s and British team Multiworks winning the last two. The race kicked off 4pm on Friday, December 06, 2013 and ended 4.30pm on Saturday, December 07, 2013 with the results declared and winners awarded at 5.30pm. Over three thousand tickets were sold with some racing fans staying overnight to cheer their teams on. GulfRun is an annual motorsport event that started in 2005 and was organized by a group of young Kuwaitis who shared a passion for cars. The original motive for the event was to provide a venue for amateur drivers while endorsing the importance of safe driving.
