Wataniya sponsors ‘GulfRun’ 24hr karting endurance race kicks off Dec 7

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 4: In acknowledgement of the essential role sport plays amongst youth in Kuwait, and aspiring to spread awareness on the importance of applying safe driving rules in Kuwait, Wataniya Telecom, the first private telecom operator in Kuwait, sponsors GulfRun, a 24 hour karting endurance race. Preparations take place as the actual race starts Friday, Dec 7, through Saturday, Dec 8, at the recently launched SIRBB Circuit at the Kuwait Classic Cars Museum in Shuwaikh. 18 teams have signed up to participate in the exciting and challenging 24 hour long karting endurance race.

The race is organized by GulfRun group for the third year in a row in Kuwait. Drifting and drag racing are also part of the big race which will be taking place in January through February next year. Wataniya Telecom is pleased to provide youth in Kuwait an opportunity to enjoy karting in a safe, controlled and fun environment. The GulfRun Karting Endurance Race was first launched in 2011 to create an exciting competition for youth that aligns with GulfRun’s objective to promote automobile racing and training in a safe and secure environment.

The GulfRun Karting Endurance Race follows international regulations and certified marshals fly in from the UK to regulate the race in accordance to FIA regulations. The 18 teams comprise of 4 to 12 drivers per team who drive a maximum stint time of roughly 2 hours, after which they switch drivers, and keep going for 24 hours of non- stop racing.  Wataniya Telecom will continue to support youth in Kuwait in all categories including sports, education, entertainment and technology.
