KGL PI wins Ports management award Kuwait Company recognized in ‘efficiency’ category for operating excellence

KUWAIT CITY, May 4: KGL International for Ports, Warehousing & Transport (KGL PI) received the “Most Efficient” Ports Management and Operating Company award, topping in the highly contested “Efficiency” category in the region during the recent World Ports & Trade Summit 2013 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The event held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces was attended by over 300 leading figures in the ports industry and members of the International Association of Ports and Harbours. KGL PI Chairman & Managing Director Fadhel Albaghly received the award and thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces and acknowledged Kuwait Port Authorities and the company’s staff for their on-going support.

KGL PI was recognised in the “Efficiency” category due to its operating excellence and performance record over the past 12 months through the company’s investment in technology and advanced operating systems and the continuous maintenance, update and renewal of the equipment in both Shuaiba and Shuwaikh ports that KGL PI operates and manages. KGL PI competed for this award against Shanghai International Port Group, Busan Port Authority and Tanzania Port Authority.

Albahgly also participated as a Panelist on the second day session of the Summit entitled “Maritime & Port Development in the New Global and Economic Era.” He outlined that KGL International for Ports, Warehousing & Transport is considered as the terminal manager and operator-arm of the Group. The company is headquartered in Kuwait, and has running operations within the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt. KGL PI’s core business practice covers the development, operations, and management of container terminals and Roll-On-Roll-Off (RoRo) operations.

He added that KGL PI adopts the highest and most advanced technology systems allowing the company to accommodate the most recent and advanced requirements within its operations in terms of optimization. This technology also allows the company to interlink with other major ports in the region and provides an added advantage in terms of reporting and providing services to its customers.
