Judge ‘refrains’ from sentencing 2 expats

KUWAIT CITY, March 22: The 12th Criminal Division, chaired by Judge Wael Al-Ateeqi, has refrained from imposing a sentence on two expatriates accused of possessing narcotic substances for personal use. While patrolling in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, a security officer tried to intervene between the two expatriates who were engaged in a fistfight and arrested them for the possession of narcotics. After some time, the Criminal Investigation Department released a report that traces of hashish were found in the blood sample of one of the accused. However, the defendants’ lawyer, Talal Al- Enezi, raised doubts on the charges filed against his clients, pointing out that the arrest procedures taken by the officer were invalid. He demanded for the acquittal of the accused due to the absence of incriminating evidence
