KUWAIT CITY, March 19: The State Security Department at the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the Communications Ministry, will soon implement a mechanism to monitor social networking sites in a bid to limit, if not eliminate, anomalous or corrupt online activities, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed a team, consisting of representatives from the two ministries, has approved the programs which will be used in monitoring the websites. Sources said the team has reached an agreement with a European company to send the programs to Kuwait in April to activate the entire monitoring mechanism within two months. Sources added these programs have the ability to establish the real identity of those who create accounts in various social networking sites under a fictitious name.
