Bedouns protest to demand citizenship
KUWAIT CITY, March 19: Several Bedoun Tuesday staged a demonstration on Al-Najashi Street and Taima Square in Jahra to demand for their civil rights and Kuwaiti citizenship.
When the rally started, there was a lack of security presence in the area even though security instructions were issued in this regard after bids were made on social networking sites in advance for staging the rally.
Eventually in the evening, Special Forces were summoned and deployed at the location to control the rally. Director of Jahra Security Directorate Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah was present at the location and managed to calm the demonstrators successfully.
Reportedly, the demonstrators shouted slogans against the government, some lawmakers and the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) during the rally.
