‘Terror attack’ on embassy foiled ‘Guard’, MPRI in joint drill

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: Military Affairs Unit of National Guard in cooperation with US Military Professional Resource Incorporated (MPRI) conducted a drill at the premises of the Embassy of United States in Kuwait, in the presence of US Ambassador Matthew Tueller and Commander of Military Affairs in National Guard Brigadier General Saad Jaber Hajraf, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The exercise included a scenario of terrorist attack targeting the US Embassy and with counter-terrorism battalion and officers from explosive ordnance disposal unit, military police and emergency medical teams and battalions coming in to protect and secure facilities, whilst men from the Directorate General of Planning and Training Affairs rushed to the scene after receiving information in that regard.

The exercise started with participants identifying the location of terrorists and preparing a line of attack and dealing with them. The troops and elements were stationed according to plan, and they clashed with the terrorists after breaking into the facility and arrested them.

Following the exercise, the US ambassador praised the performance of all elements involved in the exercise and said “this shows that anti-terrorism squads have great ability to deal with emergencies and manage crisis.” He valued cooperation between the National Guard and the US Army.
