Ashour visits Prince store to celebrate with fans Egyptian bids to promote squash in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, March 16: The world number one squash champion and Prince brand ambassador, Ramy Ashour lands another Professional Squash Association (PSA) title in Kuwait this month, after winning five straight games against international champions like Nick Mathew, James Willstrop and Nicolas Mueller.
The Egyptian athlete was able to snatch the 30th PSA World Tour of his career at the Kuwait PSA Cup, as expected by critics and by his local sponsors Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co. (AAW) and Prince. Ashour signed a multi-year agreement with Prince earlier this year to endorse Prince squash racquets. The world champion who is known to favor the Prince Airstick 130 since the start of his career, is now back to competing with his original racquet.
Ashour said: “I chose Prince for a lot of reasons. Every time I step on the court I try my hardest, and I want the best racquet for my game, and the Prince Airstick gives me all the power and feel that I need on the court. “I have a fast style of play and the Prince technology helps me play my best on every point.” Ashour made a special appearance at Kuwait’s local Prince store in Al Corniche Club last week to encourage the spirit of sportsmanship within Kuwait and to promote squash as the sport of choice within the community.
GM of Sports and Fashion at AAW, Khalid F. Al Mutawa said: “At just 25 years-old, Ramy has shown remarkable skill and passion to squash. We believe Ramy can become one of the greatest athletes in the world and region. We are honored to have him representing Prince and the Airstick 130 racquet — one he truly enjoys playing with from the get-go of his athletic career. We thank him for visiting Prince in Kuwait and for spreading the sport of squash to the Kuwaiti community.” The Kuwait PSA Cup is the third PSA World Series event of this year that took place at Qadsiya Sporting Club. Ashour managed to notch up all titles so far.
