‘Scope’ to shut by April end ‘No pressure from ministry’
KUWAIT CITY, March 14: Board Chairman and owner of Scope TV Fajar Al-Saeed has announced the closure of the channel by the end of April, reports Al-Anba daily.
In a recent statement that surprised everyone, Al-Saeed explained the decision was finalized long ago but the current situation in the country, especially the amendment of the voting system had prompted her to delay the implementation until everything returns to normal.
Al-Saeed has vehemently denied allegations that the Information Ministry is behind the closure of the channel. She asserted the ministry has nothing to do with the decision and there is no truth in rumors that the channel can no longer cope with its financial difficulties. She affirmed she took the decision on her own and the channel is now for sale to anyone interested, even the members of the opposition; asserting that she has no intention to rescind the decision.
