G-62 firm in loans row Discriminatory: group
KUWAIT CITY, March 14: The G-62 group remains firm in its decision not to support the proposed cancellation of loan interest payments, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting General Coordinator of the group Abdullah Mefrej.
Al-Mefrej said the group believes the proposal to waive off loans obtained before April 2008 is a form of discrimination because it is unfair to those who have no loans and those who paid their debts. He asserted this step sends a wrong message to the people of Kuwait as it encourages them to defy the law in the future; while it reflects the government’s failure to fulfill its constitutional duties.
The coordinator also warned this move will open the door for endless demands which might have a negative impact on the future generation.
