Suspension move flayed Traders up in arms
KUWAIT CITY, March 14: A group of employers have expressed disappointment over the recent decision of Social Affairs and Labor Ministry Undersecretary Abdulmohsen Al-Mutairi to suspend the processing of applications for the transfer of commercial visit visas to work permits, reports Al-Kuwaitiyah daily quoting sources.
Sources said the employers have warned that the decision might disrupt work procedures and negatively affect the interests of businessmen, especially since it covers those who have already started the processing of such transfers. They also pointed out that most of those entering the country on commercial visit visas are professionals with high academic qualifications, not marginal workers, sources added.
Sources confirmed the decision will be amended soon to include new transfer applications but those who already entered the country on commercial visit visas will not be affected.
Meanwhile, Al-Shahed daily has reported that the undersecretary approved the proposed amendment to the situation of 111 employees along with settlement of their financial dues starting from Dec 31 last year.
Sources disclosed Al-Mutairi has also agreed on paying overtime to 45 employees at the Vocational Rehabilitation Department from April to July in 2012, in addition to 58 workers at the Cooperative Control Department.
