Wrong use of Civil ID

This is reference to a question in the Legal Clinic in the Arab Times of March 05, 2013 on the “ Wrong use of Civil IDs”.
In my case, I unknowingly left copies of my passport and Civil ID in a stationary shop where I had gone to get some photocopies done of various documents.
I forgot one set in the shop and when I returned to get them, the copies were missing. I just want to know what precautionary measures I can to protect myself from becoming a victim of crimes mentioned in the question in the Legal Clinic. If police do not except such complaints on the misuse of the Civil IDs what can we do?

Name withheld

Answer: Instead of focusing on the question you should read the answer more carefully because we have detailed what steps can be taken in case such a problem occurs.
Secondly, you can’t take any precautions because you don’t even know whether the papers you misplaced will be misused and if they are, where. You can only go to the police if these papers are misused and then you can provide names of people you suspect might have misused these documents.
Thirdly, we clearly said that police are required to except such complaints and if for any reason they don’t you can file a complaint against that police station with the Ministry of Interior in Sharq or even through their website.
And lastly, you can take anyone who misuses your documents to court.
All said and done, you can avoid all these problems by being careful with the photocopies of your documents so that these don’t fall into wrong hands. This will help you avoid legal hassles later on.
