KUWAIT CITY, March 9: Director of Natural Medicine Hospital Dr Ammar Al-Baroun said the contract to establish the new natural (herbal) medicine hospital with a capacity of 300 beds will be awarded soon and the consultancy office in charge of the project will submit agreements on March 10 to pave the way for floating the tender, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Baroun declared the plan is for the contract signing to take place by the end of this year and the construction of the new hospital will be through the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) system. He said the company handling the project will be in charge of feeding, cleaning and other related services. He added the Ministry of Health’s function will be limited to dealing with issues concerning doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and the administrative staff.

According to the director, the ministry intends to equip Al-Zebn Health Center, one of the best centers in the country, with the most advanced machines to better serve the public. He stressed the center will have a health clinic, confirming that electricity has been installed and the outpatient clinics will be ready for operation soon after the construction of the central cafeteria that will take care of food supply in the hospital instead of those coming from the Mental Health Center.
