Child’s residence
I am an Indian, living with my son and family in Kuwait. My son was blessed with a second child in December 2012.In January he left for training in another country and will return to Kuwait in mid-May.
Before leaving the country, my son gave me an authority letter to do the paperwork from the Ministry of Justice for his newborn and I managed to get the child’s passport.
I went to the Immigration Department for the child’s residence but my request could not be entertained because I was told that the computer system refuses to accept such transactions when the sponsor (the father) is out of the country.
The authorities, however, gave the child a three-month Article 14 (temporary) residence on my sponsorship.
Now the child is required to travel, with the family, to my home country in mid-March and return in mid-May. In the meantime, I have come to learn that the temporary residence will be cancelled as soon as he leaves the country.
Is this true? If so, can I as the grandfather get a visit visa for this child? I am working in the Ministry of Health. If not, then can the father, when he returns to the country in mid-May get the visit visa for the child?
And in the end, most importantly, if the child leaves the country now will there be any restriction on him, which says that he can’t be brought back to Kuwait before six months of his departure from the country?

Answer: Just don’t worry about anything and let the child travel to your home country. Yes, the child’s residence will be cancelled as soon he leaves the country but there will be no time restriction on his return.
The best thing would be for the father to get a dependent visa for the child as it takes the same time and documents as a visit visa. Even getting the child on a visit visa, by the father, doesn’t pose any problem because visit visas of infants can be transferred to a dependent residence if the father meets the salary condition.
