Bid to hire sign language personnel in hospitals ‘Need to merge 30 slots with those okayed earlier’
KUWAIT CITY, March 7: The Civil Service Commission (CSC), in response to the request of the Health Ministry for 30 employment slots to recruit sign language personnel, stressed the need to merge these slots with those approved earlier, reports Al-Watan daily quoting sources.
Sources said the ministry wants the sign language personnel to work in hospitals and other public health institutions under its wing to enhance procedures for understanding deaf patients during diagnosis. Sources explained this step is aimed at minimizing errors in diagnosing deaf patients.
Sources revealed there have been many complaints from the parents of deaf patients on wrong diagnosis due to miscommunication as there are no sign language experts to assist the doctors.
