Indian expat denied emergency leave tries to commit suicide
KUWAIT CITY, March 6: An Indian expatriate, who works at Arifjan Camp, tried to commit suicide when he was denied emergency leave to travel to India and visit his dying mother.
Reportedly, the victim had submitted several leave applications to the director of his company, which has a contract with the US Army, to permit him to see his dying mother but his requests were declined.
Since he was in good terms with the American soldiers at Arifjan Camp, he requested for their help but they refused to interfere with the management of the company.
When there was no way left for him to obtain the emergency leave, he decided to commit suicide by hanging himself. However, the American soldiers rescued him in time and rushed him to Adan Hospital. The friends of the Indian victim appealed to the concerned authorities and the Indian Embassy to convince the management of the company to provide them with basic human rights.
A statement issued by these friends indicated that the company is focused on achieving profits through illegal methods.
They revealed that the American soldiers at Arifjan Camp have warned the company management against misbehaving with some officers and their inhumane manner of dealing with the employees.
They lamented that no investigations were carried out to even know the reason for his decision to commit suicide.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Adan Hospital and necessary action will be taken after the revival of his health.
