Minister plans to shun separate clinic hours proposal for citizens MoH receives 48 new ambulances: Al-Haifi

KUWAIT CITY, March 6, (Agencies): Minister of Health Dr Mohammad Al-Haifi is intending to reject the proposal for separate allocation of clinic hours for citizens, indicating that it would lead to discrimination in providing health services among citizens and expatriates, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a press statement issued by the minister, he revealed that the matter is being studied and a decision in this regard has not been taken.

He indicated that he has requested for statistics on the beneficiaries of the health services in the country, which he will study before he takes a decision regarding this matter.

In case a decision is taken in favor of the proposal, he stressed that it will not ban the expatriates from visiting the casualty departments of the clinics anytime for emergency cases.

He insisted that he has issued clear instructions to the directors of health zones to receive and treat any patient anytime in the casualty departments before they are transferred to the appropriate hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has received 48 new ambulances, the first batch of vehicle purchases to support the emergency service across the nation, Health Minister Dr Mohammad Al-Haifi announced Wednesday.

In statements to KUNA, the Minister said the final batch of ambulances will be delivered to Kuwait before the end of March.

“The new purchases will take the number of ambulances of the Ministry’s Emergency Department up to 193,” minister Al-Haifi said.

He pointed out that the new ambulances are equipped with the latest technologies that provide maximum safety for patients.

The minister added that the vehicles will be distributed to various areas across the nation according to their needs and the rate of emergency case.

He also revealed that the Ministry is planning to increase the number of emergency centers in residential areas as well as on highways.

“Ministry’s Emergency Department has a sophisticated communications system that reveals accurately the caller’s address on electronic map and help the ambulance reach the scene in the shortest time,” the Minister said.

He unveiled that the Ministry has plans for several future projects to improve the efficiency of the emergency service.
