Government to consider full health insurance for firemen CSC to carry out study

KUWAIT CITY, March 5, (KUNA): The Cabinet, in its weekly meeting Monday, assigned the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to consider a full health insurance for firemen and to report back with a full study as soon as possible.

The Cabinet highly appreciates great role of firemen and sacrifices they have been doing in fire accidents, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah said in a statement after a Cabinet meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The Cabinet then took note of a message by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who thanked the State of Kuwait for approving the Doha amendment for the Kyoto Protocol regarding the UN climate change framework agreement, as well as for Kuwait’s hosting of the international humanitarian pledging conference for Syria and its donation of $300 million for the Syrian people.

The Cabinet members then took note of letters to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Senegalese President, Japanese prime minister, former US secretary of State Hillary Clinton regarding bilateral relations.

They took note of a letter to Sheikh Sabah from Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, chairman of the Arab intellectual institute whose objective is to preserve the Arabic language.

They took note of a letter from Mikhail Gorbachev, the founding president of the international Green Cross organization, who invited His Highness the Amir to the 7th meeting of the Earth Dialogue, due next September in Geneva.

Regarding housing issues, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah said the ministers were briefed about ready-to-be-distributed houses and future housing projects in Sabah Al-Ahmad city, Jaber Al-Ahmad city, northwest of Sulaibikhat, Al-Khairan city, Al-Mutlaa city and North Subbiya city.
The Cabinet members urged the public housing authority to speed up execution of the projects in order to honor growing housing applications, said Sheikh Mohammad.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Prime Minister urged his ministers to come to the next meeting with a report of what have been achieved during the past three months.

The government members, on the other hand, took note of a letter from His Highness the Amir who thanked the prime minister and his ministers for their good-wishes for the 52nd National Day and 22nd Liberation Day.

The Cabinet, in that respect, congratulated His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and the Kuwaiti people on the national days, remembering the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defending their country.

The Cabinet, then, approved an agreement with Romania over exemption of VAT on diplomats, an MoU with the UK and North Ireland to waive visa on diplomats and special passport holders, an agreement with Vietnam over agriculture cooperation, agreement with Armenia over visa waiver on diplomats and special passport holders, agreement with the Philippines over agriculture cooperation, agreement with Sudan over recognition of sea navigation certificate, agreement with Algeria over trade cooperation and agreement with Portugal over visa waiver for diplomats and special passport holders.
