Duo arrested as police bust major ‘visa trading’ racket Perfume thieves tracked down
KUWAIT CITY, March 3: A GCC national and an Arab expatriate were arrested recently for trading in forged residencies, reports Al-Jaridah daily.
According to a security source, officers from General Immigration Department received information about an Arab mandoub trading in residencies, leasing contracts of some offices and forging certificates issued by Public Authority for Civil Information in order to recruit maximum number of laborers. They carried out necessary investigations and monitored the suspect.
They noticed the suspect visiting a Labor Department on a daily basis, and carrying out transactions for certain establishments and companies.
Investigations revealed that these establishments and companies belonged to a GCC national and most of them were located in one area.
The sources said the detectives continued their investigations and were able to summon some expatriates sponsored by the establishments and companies, who admitted that they paid between KD 700 and KD 1,000 for their residencies.
Based on these testimonies of the expatriates, detectives arrested the mandoub while he was carrying out a transaction and referred him to the concerned authorities.
During interrogations, they discovered that the second suspect had 45 fake companies and establishments registered under his name and he had recruited nearly 480 laborers.
He was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.
Perfume thieves : Two Asians were arrested recently for stealing a large number of perfumes worth thousands of Kuwaiti dinars from the warehouse of an undisclosed company.
After receiving information on the theft, Hawally securitymen conducted a thorough investigation. They looked into the register of persons entering and leaving the warehouse over the last few weeks. They then identified the suspects and tracked them down. They later received information that one of the suspects was at the airport, so they rushed to the location where they arrested him.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to stealing 176 cartons of different international brands of perfumes which were distributed to various areas like Hassawi, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Ishbiliya. He also guided police to the whereabouts of his accomplice and both of them were referred to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action.
