KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Chairperson of the Prices Committee at Kuwait Union of Cooperative Societies Adel Al-Hassan said the committee has fixed the prices of some 27,000 commodities in the cooperative societies since early 2010 to ensure availability of the commodities whose prices have been fixed, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Hassan said the committee has been holding intensive meetings to review requests by some companies over their intention to increase or fix or unify the prices of certain goods. He stated the committee will double efforts to conclude all requests covering over 70,000 items after which the cooperative societies will receive directives in that regard to abide by the decision.

He stressed the committee will start implementing the computer inspection system soon using BDI equipment, and that the method will enhance monitoring of the highest possible number of goods in various cooperative societies to maintain unified prices in the main cooperatives and their branches.
