Violent crime sees sharp increase in 2012 – report
KUWAIT CITY, March 2: Official statistics issued by the General Department for Criminal Evidences indicated that 4,664 theft crimes including 3,097 felony offenses and 1,570 misdemeanors were committed in the past year, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
They explained that this statistics indicates 13 theft crimes are committed everyday in Kuwait, which is the same percentage of daily crimes in the year 2011, adding that a higher rate of suicide cases was registered this year.
Statistics also showed that some types of criminal offenses in the country doubled such as pre-meditated murder, robbery under threats and fights for different reasons. There is also increase in rate of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Sources stressed that strict security measures and efforts from all state bodies are required to discuss the causes and remedies of such crimes.
