Blogger Al-Khaldi acquitted of insulting ruler
KUWAIT CITY, March 1: The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Salah Al-Houti acquitted the Kuwaiti blogger Hamid Al-Khaldi and adjourned cases involving Saqer Al-Hashash and Mutlaq Al-Sanad until March 21 and 28. The defendants were accused of allegedly insulting HH the Amir on Twitter.
Lawyers Doukhi Al-Hesban and Jasser Al-Jed’aa represented Al-Khaldi and informed the court that Article 25 of the State Security Law is unconstitutional, while Lawyer Dr Khaled Al-Kafefah had previously countered it.
According to the files of the cases involving Al-Hashash and Al-Sanad, the court will hear defenses from their advocates in the presence of the prosecution officer on March 20 and 28 respectively.
Lawyer Abdullah Al-Ahmad represented Al-Sanad in the court where he denied all allegations against his client. He affirmed that his client did not have any intention to insult HH the Amir.
