Court rejects another lawsuit against man ‘accused’ of blasphemy
KUWAIT CITY, March 1: The Misdemeanor Court presided by Magistrate Ahmad Al-Qaseemi rejected a lawsuit against a Kuwaiti accused of blasphemy, because the accused had already been convicted for similar charges.
Defense lawyer Addulmuhsin Al-Qattan implored the court to revoke lawsuit against his client as he was already found guilty on similar charges.
Lawyer Al-Qattan argued that it is not permissible to file another lawsuit against a defendant on a similar offensive or event - regardless of the outcome of the previous verdict, once the verdict acquitted or convicted the defendant.
He also said it’s unacceptable to uphold verdict issued in a previous lawsuit with similar charges regardless the outcome of the ruling, indicating the court is supposed to consider such a case - although the litigate may not insist not it.
Previous verdicts are proven by presenting official memo of the ruling or certificate from the court for verification.
