KUWAIT CITY, March 1: Intensive parliament-government meetings will be held in the coming phase to approve a number of popular draft laws including the draft law to settle the dues of prisoners involved in financial cases coincidently with the Amiri amnesty which was recently issued to release them, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources.

They indicated that the popular decisions and laws will be issued successively in March and the financial burdens of the citizens will be handled.

They stressed that the Parliament submitted details about the needs of the citizens to the government including the need to drop the loans’ interests, adding the government and the parliament have agreed to solve this particular file.



Meanwhile, they revealed that the government will provide financial aid to unmarried Kuwaiti women above 35 years of age without a guardian as well as to Kuwaiti women above 55 years of age who are married to non-Kuwaitis.

They indicated that the lawmakers will submit a proposal for increasing the housing loan up to KD 100,000 and the rental compensation to KD 350.

Furthermore, parliamentary sources revealed that a number of lawmakers will submit a proposal to enroll the reports that were issued by State Audit Bureau and included in the agenda of the parliament’s coming sessions.

They indicated that nearly 26 reports have been shelved including reports on Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, the maintenance activities conducted in Al-Zour Refinery, and Subbiya, Doha and Shuaiba stations as well as the file on the financial and administrative violations committed in Ministry of Information.
In another development, sources unveiled that Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) violated the financial and legal instructions of Ministry of Finance, adding that it failed to use the spare parts of electrical transformers worth KD 1.05 million for 8 years.

They indicated that the neglected items were transferred to the ministry’s stores in Sabhan in 2005 and were not moved elsewhere, adding that 90% of the items have been damaged.

In addition, the ministry wasted KD 199,477 due to improper storage of important substances in open air in the stores of West Doha Station.
