Bid to standardize prices of medicines MoH, Municipality to discuss new by-law
KUWAIT CITY, March 1: Kuwait Municipality and Ministry of Health will hold discussions in the coming days about establishing a by-law on standardization of prices of medicines in pharmacies, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting reliable sources.
They revealed that team of representatives from the two bodies will launch inspection tours of pharmacies to study the extent of applicability of the by-law, indicating that there is a possibility for establishing a team from Ministry of Commerce and Industry to inspect these pharmacies and ensure they adhere to the by-law.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Mohammad Al-Haifi says the decision to increase the allocations of overseas treatment for patients and their companions by 100 percent is fair and justified.
He indicated that the amount allocated for the expenditure of a patient is KD 200 per day while it is KD 100 per day for their companions.
In addition, the minister revealed that necessary procedures will be taken to ensure the payments of increments retroactive from January 28 are made, indicating that a letter of credit is required from Ministry of Finance to facilitate these procedures.
