213 bogus companies face probe in human trafficking

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will Wednesday refer the files of 213 companies to the General Investigation Department to take necessary legal action against the owners of the companies.

According to a source, the ministry had discovered that the companies are bogus, as they recruited expatriates and registered them as employees.

He said the owners of the bogus companies conspired with certain employees of the ministry to use expatriates for human trafficking and visa racketeering.

He stressed that the ministry, based on strict instructions from the minister Thikra Al-Rasheedi, will refer the suspected employees for investigations.

He revealed that intensive campaigns were carried out in the private sector by an investigation committee comprising of employees from the ministries of Interior, Social Affairs, and Commerce and Industry, last of which was carried out in Fahaheel shortly before the National and Liberation days.
