Two Kuwaiti girls die in Metla’a camp fire
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: Two Kuwaiti girls died when fire broke out in their tent at a camp in Metla’a. The fire extended to a vehicle parked nearby and plenary investigation indicates it was caused by a candle light.
Sources said the victims’ father was able to rescue his wife and a third daughter and referred them to Jahra Hospital.
Meanwhile, a team of firefighters rushed to the scene after the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received a report about the fire, and the remains of the deceased girls were referred to Forensics by Criminal Evidences Men after the firemen have been able to douse the flames. High ranking officers were present at the scene to supervise the operation.
The Director of Public Relations at the Fire Service Directorate Lieutenant Colonel Khaleel Al-Ameer appealed to Kuwaitis and expatriates to take necessary precautionary measures to prevent fire outbreak, and urged people to use electricity wisely and remove coal from tents before sleeping. He also called for people to avoid the use of candle and keep some space between each tent to avert fatalities in case fire breaks out.
