EPA teams seize forty cartons of spray foam Violations in buildings

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23:  The inspection teams formed by the Environment Public Authority (EPA) have registered over 60 violations and seized 40 cartons of spray foam ready for distribution to the local markets for sale during the National and Liberation days, reports Al-Watan daily quoting EPA Director General Dr Salah Al-Mudhahi.

Al-Mudhahi revealed the recent weekly inspection campaigns greatly contributed to the drastic reduction of violations in the desert areas.  He said the authority has started using the reward and punishment system to deal with owners of tents in the desert.  He explained the officers regularly issue citations for those proven to have violated the law and reward those who follow the proper procedures.

He cited as examples the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company camping site in which the campers use concrete inside the tents and the surrounding areas, the Kuwait Petroleum Company wherein they used cement to create water well and culverts in the entrance of the tents.  He confirmed that the teams always check individual tents and those owned by companies to guarantee strict compliance with the law.

Meanwhile, the Kuwait Municipality has allegedly approved applications for electricity installation despite the violations found in some buildings, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources said the Ministry of Electricity and Water has ordered the suspension of some transactions at the Inspection Department due to the violations.

In letter addressed to the director general of the Municipality, the ministry mentioned that its inspection teams have uncovered violations in some buildings, yet the Municipality still approved their applications for the supply of electricity.  Sources added these buildings are located in Shuhada, South Abu Fatira, Fahad Al-Ahmad, Al-Waha, Adan, Ishbiliya and Ali Sabah Al-Salem.
