‘Zero tolerance for protests’ Workers unions warned

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MSAL) will soon look into files of unions and public utility societies engaged in political activities to warn them against the action because it is a grave violation of the byelaws and laws of unions and syndicates, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily quoting sources.
Sources affirmed the ministry will not tolerate the unions or syndicates which violate the law, indicating their files will be submitted to the undersecretary for the necessary action, particularly since these organizations have been calling for strikes and civil disobedience.

Meanwhile, MP Abdullah Al-Tameemi has advised the public utility societies to refrain from following in the footsteps of political blocs to avoid legal problems.  He said these institutions should not allow themselves to be used as cover for some politicians who have harmed not only themselves but also Kuwait.
Al-Tameemi urged the wise people in these institutions to prioritize national interest and to foil the attempt by troublemakers to instigate chaos, especially at a time when the nation is celebrating important holidays.  He added the lawmakers will support the ministry in its bid to strictly enforce the law against those proven to have violated the regulations.
