Father’s dues

I am from Mumbai (India) and I would like to have some advice on the following:
My dad worked in Kuwait, in the Defence Ministry, from 01-09-1991 to Jan 20, 2013 because on Jan 21, 2013 my father died of a heart attack in Kuwait and our relatives passed on the information to his office. I would like to know what is the procedure to get his dues - indemnity and any other money due to him.

Name withheld
Answer:
First of all, you must get someone in Kuwait to handle the issue for you — preferably a relative who can follow up the case. Your family must send him a power of attorney which he must get attested from your embassy in Kuwait.

In the meantime, you must get a letter from a court which clearly shows who are your father’s heirs to receive the money and then another affidavit from all the heirs giving one of you the right to receive your father’s dues.

These papers have to be presented to your dad’s office which will then start processing the papers and also direct the person with the power of attorney how to get the whole thing finalized. The money will then be sent to the person designated to receive it.

There are a few other ways to go about this issue but this is the easiest and one which will produce results the quickest.
