Labor unions denounce opposition’s calls for protests

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Several labor unions have affirmed their support for efforts to maintain national stability, while denouncing the opposition’s call for marches in solidarity with three former MPs sentenced to jail for insulting the Amiri entity – an act considered a form of rebellion against the regime, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a recent press statement, Chairperson of the Public Sector Workers Union Bader Al-Azmi confirmed all the labor unions have refused to participate in the illegal marches and they have outrightly rejected plans to incite the youths to demonstrate against those in power.

Al-Azmi asserted the labor unions remain committed to their promise to fully abide by the law which mandates the people to obey their ruler. He said the unions support calls for tolerance and unity, not those who raise tribal or sectarian issues to divide the Kuwaiti society.
