KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: Director of Kuwait Official Portal at the Central Information Technology System Dr Etihad Al-Bahar has announced that a total of 10.676 million dinars involving 180,550 transactions was paid online via portal in 2012, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Dr Al-Bahar revealed the amount paid for online transactions in 2012 was 23 percent and higher than that of 2011, while transactions increased by 28 percent during the same period. She revealed that three government ministries attracted a high number of online payments through the portal. She listed the Ministries of Interior, Communications and Justice as making a high rate of transactions in that order.

She said the system provided 671 electronic and information services to 51 government agencies, citing 565 information services and 106 electronic services, while 12 online payment services were made through Ministries of Interior, Finance, Justice, Public Works, Electricity and Water, Public Authority for Civil Information and others.

“We are working on the possibility of increasing the services to include Public Authority for Housing Care and Public Authority for Investment”, she reiterated.
