1.5 kg heroin found on drug peddler Bedoun mugged, KD 1,500 stolen
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: An Asian expatriate was arrested recently for involvement in drug trafficking and possession of 1.5 kilograms of heroin and 1,000 narcotic pills.
According to security sources, when the Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) received information about an Asian expatriate involved in drug trafficking, a team was formed for investigations.
After confirming the tipoff, the officers took necessary legal measures and arrested the suspect. They checked his apartment and found 1.5 kilograms of heroin, 1,000 narcotic pills and a weighing scale for measuring drugs.
He confessed his crime during interrogations and he was referred with the items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.
Acting Director General of DGDC Brigadier Saleh Ghanim Al-Enezi stressed in a press statement that drugs spoil the lives of the Kuwaiti youth who should be considered as the nation’s treasure.
He pointed out that the top leaders of the Ministry of Interior particularly the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud has prioritized the abolition of drug trafficking and drug use in the country and has issued instructions in this regard, which are executed by the Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lt General Ghazi Al-Omar.
Brigadier Al-Enezi indicated that DGDC is keen on spreading awareness among Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates about the dangers of drug use, based on instructions by the Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Abdul Hameed Al-Awadhi.
He stressed the huge role and national responsibility that the officers from DGDC have in eliminating such a negative phenomenon in the country.
Bedoun mugged, robbed: An unknown individual waylaid a Bedoun and attacked him, after which he robbed him of KD 1,500 and fled from the location.
According to security sources, the Bedoun and his Kuwaiti wife filed a case at Sulaibikhat Police Station against the unknown suspect and informed securitymen that he had withdrawn KD 1,500 from the ATM of a bank and was walking to his vehicle when he noticed an individual observing him. The latter then approached him and hit him in front of his wife who was inside his vehicle. The suspect then grabbed the cash from him and fled from the location in his American-made vehicle.
A case was registered. Investigations are ongoing to arrest the suspect and retrieve the stolen money.
Youth driving stolen car: A youth was arrested recently for driving a stolen sports vehicle in Sulaibikhat.
According to security sources, while securitymen were patrolling Sulaibikhat, they checked the details of a vehicle on the road and discovered that it was reported as stolen.
The securitymen stopped the youth who was driving the vehicle and arrested him.
He was referred to the Sulaibikhat Police Station with the stolen sports vehicle for necessary legal action against him.
