KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: An officer of rank ‘Lieutenant Colonel’ was arrested recently for firing gunshots at the owner of a camp and three other individuals as well as setting the camp on fire in Doha.
Reportedly, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information from an expatriate about gunshots in a camp in Doha, securitymen rushed to the location.
They found a Kuwaiti citizen at the location, who they sensed was in a disoriented state and checked his details to discover he is an officer of rank ‘Lieutenant Colonel’ working at the Ministry of Interior.
The expatriate, who contacted the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior, informed securitymen that the Kuwaiti citizen had arrived at the camp with four unknown individuals in four different vehicles. When disputes occurred between them, the Kuwaiti citizen pulled out a gun and fired gunshots at the four individuals. He then set the camp on fire.
Securitymen arrested the suspect and referred him to Sulaibiya Police Station for interrogations. The suspect managed to escape from the police station but he later surrendered himself.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a quarrel broke out between the suspect and the owner of the camp during which the suspect fired gunshots at the four individuals and set the camp on fire.
Sources stressed that when the officers from Criminal Investigation Department checked the camp location, they found a tent, which had caught fire. They checked the tent and found packs of bullets.
