NLB retain Tenpin Bowling lead K2E2 post highest score of week

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: In another low scoring week, most of the participating teams of the PBAK 2013 Winter Tenpin Bowling League continue to struggle in the tricky lane condition even as NLB managed to keep the lead after grounding the Swooping Eagles in a lop sided match. Topping the 2nd round scoreboard of the event organized by the Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait and jointly supported by United Logistic Compnay, Kabayan Super Store and Al Banan Supermarket was K2E2 who snatched the Weekly High Series award with its above 2900 output against LEAF. Also emerging victorious in their respective week 2 matches were Cozmo-2, D’ Islanders, De Lima Blazers, United Amco and Xpress Rollers.


After an impressive opening week debut, the performance level of the water jet and pump specialists of NLB dropped considerably but nevertheless managed to stay on top of the team standings by subduing the Swooping Eagles 2683-2388. Spearheaded by their lady pin buster Elvie Sotio, NLB grabbed the upper hand with an 883-750 rout in game 1 of the 3-game series match. With a revamped lineup in game 2, the Eagles led by Angie Bush, Danny Solis, Glen Corbin, Josie Lorino and John Caldwell succeeded in eking out a close 887-842 win. Still ahead by 88 pin falls after 2 games 1725-1637, NLB paced By Ric Marimla, Nelson de Leon and Mike Garcia together with Lee Mills, Ted yap and Madel Garcia wrapped up the match via a 933-751 convincing walk in the park victory in game 3.


Meanwhile, the K2E2 Thunders rebounded from its first week loss by chalking up the highest score of the week in their 2971-2534 win over the LEAF landscapers. In posting its 3-game sweep of the match via game scores of 979-830, 962-850 and 1005-854 the scoring load of the K2E2 Thunders was evenly carried by Boy Lorino, Alex Cervantes, Joan Latoja, Neng Cervantes and Mina Andaya. Manning the lane for LEAF in this outing were Marjorie Mercado, Rocky Castil, Blanca Mercado, Rey Ualat, Joe Presenta and Rey Ualat.


Defending champion and three-peat hopeful Cozmo-2 on the other hand booked its second straight win by clobbering Siete Pares who succumbed to its second defeat 2784-2576. Tapped to advance to the finals without much trouble, Cozmo-2 opened up a big lead as Noe Mahayag and Fahad Abul handed the entertainment magnates a decisive 986-792 win in game 1. Despite losing their striking touch in game 2, the Cozmo-2 crew that also include Jun Hosmillo, Jackie Guitang, Mariam Qabandi and Jeanette Angeles went on to beat their rivals 891-858. Although down by more than 200 pin falls, the Siete Pares quintet of Faie Reyel, Dorcas Sansone, Rico Galang, Ramon Aguilar and JR Angeles fought back in game 3 with a 926-887 victory to deny Cozmo-2 a sweep.


Like K2E2, D’ Islanders bounced back from its 1st round setback by stopping Android Rollers in three straight games en route to a 2758-2484 total pin falls win. Taking charge of the scoring chores for the D’ Islanders in their 893-833, 911-836 and 929-815 victories were Rolly David, Bert Pantanilla, Marilyne Mariano, Danny Doctor, Fe Ferrer and Bobby Carambas. Bowling for Android Rollers who lost for the second time were Uly Menezes, Samantha Fernandes, Siddarth Nair, Fatima Sequiera, Joel Fernandes and Jason D’ Souza. Moving on, De Lima Blazers stayed well inside the Top 10 after prevailing All Star Strikers in a closely contested match.


After the low scoring game 1 ended in favor of All Star Strikers 873-834 with Aziz Aslawi, Norie Sarat, Fadel Qassem, Tariq Sairat and Jheng Liwayway at the helm, Rod Llait led the De Lima Blazers assault in the next two games where they curved out 959-859 and 932-888 victories. In winning the match 2750-2620, De Lima Blazers banked on the equally tenacious pin breaking of Ed Mendoza, Ricky Palabon, Vicky Navarro, Mar Evangelista and Rudy de Lima.
Going to the outcome of the completed week 2 matches, Asian Air Safari soared high to beat Nusantara 2660-2545, World Class stopped the Philippine Embassy keglers 2525-2289, Xpress Rollers eased past 300 Bowleros 2675-2541, Cozmo-1 defeated Klasmeyts 2685-2561 and United Amco routed the Lucky Strikers 2745-1880.


In the Individual and Team High scores the early record holders are as follows: Individual High Game-Men Class O-Mike Garcia 279, Men Class A-Al Belarmino 229, Men Class B-Joe Presenta 191, Ladies Class A-Mina Andaya/Elvie Sotio 209, Ladies Class B-Jheng Liwayway 171; Individual High Average-Men Class O-Mike Garcia 216, Men Class A-Rod LLait 195, Men Class B-Danny Doctor 179, Ladies Class A-Mina Andaya 182, Ladies Class B-Jessica Balagat 161; Team High Game (Scratch Score)-NLB 1015; Team High Series (Scratch Score + Handicap)-NLB 2905.
