Move to ensure ample cancer medicine supply MoH to transfer $100,000
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: The Medical Stores and Overseas Treatment departments have coordinated their efforts in laying down a mechanism for ensuring ample supply of cancer medicines for patients who come back to Kuwait after undergoing treatment abroad, reports Al-Kuwaitiyah daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Medicines and Medical Equipment at the Ministry of Health Dr Omar Al-Sayyed Omar.
Omar clarified the delayed arrival of some medicines to Kuwait is due to the lack of supply in the manufacturing country or the decision of some nations to ban the importation of these medicines. He said patients may have demanded for the medicines upon their return to Kuwait but the medicines are out of stock and it usually takes some time to order them from outside the country.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will soon transfer $100,000 to the Health Office in Cairo to cover the needs of citizens undergoing treatment in Egypt and other expenses, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
On the other hand, Primary Health Care Department Director Dr Rehab Al-Watiyan has confirmed the launching of two annual training sessions for primary care doctors to enhance their skills in handling emergency cases, particularly of children suffering from heat cramps or severe asthma attacks.
