‘Need to review all curriculums’ - Assets law to fight graft

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Dr Mahmoud Dashti, deputy director of the Ibn Sina Hospital who is contesting the National Assembly elections from the Third Constituency has called on the government to review all educational and instructional curriculums and get rid of those curriculums which no longer correspond with the world method, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Dr Dashti stressed the importance of providing the youth the right curriculum and educational activities that will foster their creative thinking, abilities for scientific research and instill in them a sense of nationalism on the other hand it will eliminate sectarianism from the community.
He added that, initiating programs that will contribute and support today’s youth is imperative, due to their expected role in the future towards building our society and safeguarding national interests.
He also spoke about the importance of sports in school curriculum which can help set noble standards of the spirit of sportsmanship in students that will help them in their future.
He called on the community to encourage the youth to shun negative behaviors such as drugs and cigarette smoking, because it will impair their health.
Former MP and candidate of the fourth constituency Shuaib Al-Muwaizri said the next parliament will see to the approval of the Assets Declaration Law to fight corruption. He noted the former parliament proposed many projects and recommendations which the government rejected, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Al-Muwaizri explained he’s running as an independent candidate in the upcoming election but unaffiliated to the opposition because he prioritizes Kuwait and its interests.
However, he affirmed support to the opposition in its fight against corruption and violation of the constitution.
He stressed the need for the next government to resolve the loans issue that became a burden to Kuwaitis after the government failed to control its distribution, and urged citizens to select the right representatives once the power remains in their hands.
The Constitution has established historical relationship between the ruling family and Kuwaiti citizens but some MPs are trading the nation’s dignity at the market, former lawmaker and candidate of the Fourth Constituency Musallam Al-Barrak was quoted by Al-Watan Arabic daily as saying.
Al-Barrak made the declaration at inauguration of his campaign headquarters in Jahra. He stressed that national unity is distorted in the current period, amid widespread corruption and immorality that provoke conflict among citizens.
Former MPs calling for the loan cancellation issue are only trying to win the sympathy of citizens because the fund for the needy is considered the most appropriate solution to the situation, reports Al-Moustaqbal daily. The daily quoting reliable sources added that the next parliament must initiate approval of laws to reinstate the fund for the needy to resolve the loan issue once and for all.
On salary increment for workers, sources explained that the government represented by Civil Service Commission (CSC) has completed a study in that regard, indicating the cost of increment and system of distribution will be determined by CSC.
The First Constituency candidate Essa Al-Kandari has called for the restoration of women’s social rights draft law that was rejected by the previous National Assembly, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Kandari stressed on the importance of Kuwaiti women acquiring the rest of their social and civil rights. He called on the concerned authority to avoid juggling with the issue because Kuwaiti women are an important part of our community.
He said recently they have proved their ability and strength to spearhead development in political and social aspects.
Al-Kandari requests the next National Assembly to acknowledge and endorse the draft law that will give Kuwaiti women their social and civil rights in par with Kuwaiti men.
This issue, he said, should be their first priority to make sure the law is adopted and put into effect, the same way the previous Parliament did in regard to salary increment for teachers.
