Mutawa Alkazi holds Honda Open Day 24 Goldwing bikes take part in contest

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: Mutawa Alkazi, Honda’s official agent in Kuwait, in association with Kuwait Bikers’ Club, held the Honda Open Day Saturday at Discovery Mall. The open day had two parts to it, one was a contest for Honda Goldwing bikes, and the other was a display of cars by inviting car owners and Kuwait Museum for Classic cars. Talking to the Arab Times, Ghassan F. Sakr of Mutawa Alkazi said this is the first such open day the company is holding, “and we are now looking forward to do it every year.” “There are 24 Goldwing bikes that are taking part in the contest. Other than that hundreds of cars have also taken part in the open day, which has provided an opportunity for car owners to exhibit their cars. “There are Mustangs, Corvettes, and Challengers in addition to muscle and classic cars from the Kuwait Museum for Classic Cars.”

The contest for Honda Goldwing bikes included many categories such as the best-looking bike, the bike with the longest mileage and so on. The Honda Goldwing is a touring motorcycle designed and manufactured by Honda. It was introduced in October 1974, and went on to become a popular model in North America, Western Europe and Australia. Over the course of its history, it has had numerous modifications to its design. Flat-four engine, and flat-six engine, adjustable windshield, trunk, seatback for pillion rider, satellite navigation, audio system, anti-lock braking, cruise control, electrically assisted reverse gear, optional airbag were some of the innovations that occurred in Goldwing over the years.

Ghassan said that it was a pleasure to provide an opportunity for all the Goldwing fans and owners to meet up and share and express their passion for the bike. The Kuwait Bikers’ Club members were happy to be part of the event and provided judges for the competition. Talking about the club, they said that the club has successfully changed the image of biking in Kuwait. “In the early 90’s, people used to look at bikers as being reckless and irresponsible. And over the years we have changed that perception through our many positive activities and awareness campaigns.”
