Smuggled antics worth mlns of dinars seized by Customs

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 4: Director-General of General Administration of Customs Ibrahim Al-Ghanim has referred the file of antics said to have been smuggled from an unidentified Arab country into Kuwait to the Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major-General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa, reports Al-Anba daily. The sources say the authorities suspect the antics were smuggled out of the country by unidentified persons who were fleeing from unrest in their country.

Antics experts say the contraband is worth millions of Kuwaiti dinars. The Kuwaiti Interpol has been informed about the incident and the antics will be sent back to the rightful owners in cooperation with international organizations who deal with such issues. The daily added the antics were found by a customs officer who suspected the packet.

Family held hostage: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested an unidentified youth who held his family hostage and threatened to slit their throats with a cleaver because they refused to give him money to buy drugs. The youth is also said to have severely beaten the housemaid. He has been referred to the concerned authorities.

KD 10,000 snatched: Police are looking for an unidentified person for stealing KD 10,000 from an unidentified female citizen. According to reports the woman withdrew the money from a local bank branch in Adan and as she was on her way to the car, the suspect grabbed the money from her hands and escaped.

Drunkard attacks police: Police have arrested an unidentified bedoun man for drinking alcohol and attempting to attack policemen at the Sharq Police Station. He has been referred to the concerned authorities.

Police insulted: An unidentified female citizen has been referred to the concerned authorities for insulting a policeman on duty. This happened when the policeman issued a citation to the suspect for violation traffic laws.
