Kuwait to compete in Asian Junior Wushu Champ’ship in Philippines

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4, (KUNA): Kuwait’s national Kung Fu team will head to Philippines on Sunday to compete at the 7th Asian Junior Wushu Championship, set to kick off on Tuesday at the Makati Coliseum in Makati City, Manila. Khalid Qasem and Mohammad Mahdi are to represent Kuwait during the six-day championship, which includes exhibition contests and fighting tournaments, head of the delegation Nasser Al-Loughani told KUNA.

Furthermore, Al-Loughani, who also serves as chairman of Kuwait Wushu Kung Fu Committee, said that Kuwait’s participation in this huge sports forum, comes to provide players with experiences that contribute in improving their skills and levels as this sport has witnessed a significant increase in the number of its practitioners during the last years.

He also expressed hope that the team do well during the competitions, as they had trained hard for under the supervision of the team’s coach Captain Ali Shiryat. In addition, Al-Loughani praised the efforts and facilities of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and the General Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS), describing them as “great.”
