Corruption rampant in ministry as top official found involved Pakistani taxi driver in drug trafficking

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: A senior official in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor allegedly receives commission from vegetable vendors who supply their produce to cooperative societies, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
According to the same sources the official handpicks the companies which supply vegetables to cooperative societies in cooperation with board members of these societies.
The sources added one of the cooperative societies is committing a lot of irregularities and asked how it can be held responsible while corruption is rampant in the Ministry itself?

Drug peddler held: Police have arrested a Pakistani taxi driver for trafficking in drugs, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to security sources the suspect was arrested while parking his vehicle on an open ground at an unidentified location.
When police asked the man to show his ID, he looked confused. Police then searched the man’s vehicle and seized 22 sachets of (Ice) a kind of drug and a weighing scale from his car.
The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the authorities.

Drunkards in fight: Police have arrested four Asians and are looking for others for drinking alcohol and damaging 15 vehicles which were parked on an open ground in Salhiya, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A security source said some of the Asians who were high on alcohol were caught fighting when police arrived at the scene.
The source added two groups of drunkards during a fight pelted stones and empty glass bottles at each other and damaged the cars.

Swindler in custody: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested an Asian man for swindling citizens, reports Al-Rai daily.
Investigations conducted by police revealed the swindler, identified only as Haroun, claimed he had special powers to solve the problems.
Acting on information and armed with a search and arrest warrant police raided the man’s home in Khaitan and caught him red-handed while receiving money from a police agent to solve his problems.
The black magician has been handed over to the authorities.

Obscene adverts: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has referred seven companies to the Commercial Prosecution for publishing obscene advertisements in newspapers, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting knowledgeable sources.
The sources said the companies had earlier been warned on more than one occasion.

Judges, TV crew beaten: A group of seven people from an unidentified tribe allegedly assaulted a panel of judges during a popular heritage competition and the Al-Shahed TV crew which was covering the event, reports Al-Shahed daily.
A TV cameraman was seriously injured and had to be rushed to the Jahra Hospital.
A case has been registered at the Taima Police Station.

Kuwaiti’s car stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified person for stealing the car of a Kuwaiti man which was parked in front of a pharmacy in Andalus, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The Kuwaiti man said he left the car in operation and entered the pharmacy to buy medicine. When he returned after a few minutes he did not find the car.

Police hunt burglar: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar for breaking into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Farwaniya and stealing KD 4,000 cash and jewelry worth KD 900, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
