Citizens, expats who ‘lost’ cars asked to contact police station Officer among 4 Kuwaitis held for stealing luxury cars

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: Four Kuwaiti citizens were arrested recently for stealing luxury vehicles and forging the documents of the vehicles. One of the suspects is a patrol officer of rank ‘First Lieutenant’.

According to security sources, when securitymen from Capital Governorate received several reports about theft of vehicles, a team was formed for investigations.

After carrying out necessary investigations, they discovered that four Kuwaiti citizens formed a gang that was responsible for a large number of vehicle theft cases.

They reportedly stole luxury vehicles from parking areas using a crane. They then informed authorities about the theft of the vehicle number plates after which they obtained duplicate number plates and changed the color of the vehicles. They forged the documents of the vehicles.

With the assistance of some expatriates, some of the vehicles were dismantled and its parts were sold or exchanged with other vehicles.

Sources revealed that the suspects had a rental office where they displayed the luxury vehicles for rent.
Securitymen seized eight vehicles from them and discovered that they had burnt 22 vehicles to cover their crimes while a number of vehicles were found disassembled.

Further investigations about this case are ongoing to determine the number of complaints they received regarding vehicle thefts and to arrest the expatriates who assisted the suspects.

The Criminal Investigation Department appealed to Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates who had registered vehicle theft cases to contact the police station where they registered the cases.
