‘Officials falsely accusing my son’ ‘Non-ICM mosque employees either transferred, dismissed’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Mother of detainee Salam Al-Rujaib was recently quoted as saying her son has not violated any laws, reports Alam Alyawm daily.

During a peaceful sit-in which was organized by the mothers of detainees at the Erada Square, she said, her son has always respected the Constitution. “The officials are falsely accusing him,” she added.
She went on to say the arbitrary arrests by the security authorities will not force her son or other detainees give up what they believe in. They are fighting to uphold democratic values in the country.

The ‘mother’ has called for the release of all detainees whom she calls ‘prisoners of opinion’. She stressed, they are not criminals to be put behind bars. She pointed out the dialogue with young people is the solution because Kuwait is a democratic country and should stay that way.

Meanwhile, the mothers of detainees have agreed to stage sit-ins every week at the Erada Square until their sons are released. They have called upon the Kuwaiti people to participate in these sit-ins until their objective is achieved.

Political activists, including Ahmad Al-Dayeen and former MP Faisal Al-Yahya participated in the sit-in.

KUWAIT CITY: Head of the Personnel Affairs Department of the Ahmadi Mosques, Ahmad Al-Otaibi was recently quoted as saying the employees who do not belong to the Islamic Constitutional Movement (ICM) are either transferred, dismissed or referred to the legal affairs department, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Al-Otaibi added several Kuwaiti imams and muezzins have filed many complaints saying they are either transferred to other mosques, dismissed, or deprived from preaching simply because they are not members of the ICM.
