Bail frees MP, son Indian expat mugged

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: The Criminal Court postponed to March 6 the hearing of the forgery case filed against an MP and his son in order to give the Public Prosecution a chance to address the Parliament to lift the parliamentary immunity.
According to the case files, the Public Prosecution had accused the suspects of issuing a dud cheque and forging official documents. Even though the suspects were arrested, they were later released on bail of KD 600,000.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Court postponed to February 13 the hearing of the case filed against five Twitter users for issuing offensive statements against the Amiri entity.
The court also set March 6 as the date to hear the defense argument of the Twitter user Hijab Al-Hajeri against whom a petition was submitted by the State Security Department.

Indian expat mugged: An unknown individual recently waylaid an Indian expatriate and robbed him of his mobile phone and wallet which contained KD 95.
Following the incident, the victim rushed to Farwaniya Police Station and filed a case against the unknown suspect, informing securitymen that the suspect was in casual wear when he attacked him and robbed him of his mobile phone and his wallet which contained KD 95.
Securitymen noted the description of the suspect and are carrying out investigations to arrest him.

Indian caught drunk: The Farwaniya police have arrested an Indian man for drinking alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources the drunkard was caught fast asleep near a garbage dump in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. When police checking his records, they found he was reported absconding by his sponsor.

Police hunt thief: Police are looking for a thief who stole the car of an employee of the Ministry of Education and 2,000 Saudi riyals from another car, reports Al-Rai daily.
The employee in his complaint to the Sulaibikhat Police Station said both cars were parked in front of his home. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.

Egyptian assaulted
: An Egyptian man has lodged a complaint with the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station accusing three compatriots of assaulting him and compelling him to sign a promissory note for KD 1,000, reports Al-Anba daily. The compatriots will be summoned up for questioning.
