Working hours

I am working in a private company. My duty is from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, without any break. We have two days off, on Fridays and Saturdays. The problem is that after working hours my direct manager insists that I sit late and also come on Fridays and Saturdays. If I refuse he always says that he will complain to Department Head or HR. What can I do (the company time is from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm only).

: There is something not right here. The working hours you give are only eight without any break and over five days, this totals to 40 hours. The company can make you work for a maximum of 48 hours after which it has to pay you for any work they want.

Now, if the company makes you work only 40 hours (or 35 hours if you get an hour break) a week it can cancel one of the weekly off days and ask you to come to the office but if you work the 48 hours over the five days you can’t be made to work extra hours and have to be given the two-day weekend.

It’s all a question of working hours. You must talk about the issue with your department head or the HR dept if you feel that you are being wronged by your direct manager.
