Adrenalin junkies demand place to practice ‘drifting’ 3 expat labourers, 2 Kuwaiti children perish in accidents

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19:  Three Arab and Asian laborers died and 16 others sustained injuries when the bus they were riding collided with a truck on King Fahd Road, opposite Shuaiba.
After receiving information on the incident, the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior dispatched 10 ambulances, medical emergency workers and securitymen to the location.  The dead were referred to Forensics and the injured were taken to Adan Hospital.
A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the actual circumstances leading to the accident.

Give us ‘playground’: More than twenty youths gathered in an open area at Salmi performing stunts with their cars and blocked the Salmi Road to traffic for almost 60 minutes, reports Al-Anba daily.
As the police questioned the youths, they blamed the government for not providing special grounds away from the residential areas to practice their favorite sport.

Two kids killed: Two Kuwaiti children, four and five years old, died; while two other children and a housemaid got injuries when an American-made car hit them on the side of Jaber Al-Ahmad Road going towards Abdally.
The Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior deployed a large number of securitymen from the Jahra Command Post after receiving information on an accident involving four children and a housemaid who were on the side of the road, 15 kms off the main road in Mitla’a.
Preliminary investigations revealed the victims were staying at a family tent in a camping site in the area and they were about to cross the road when a speeding vehicle hit them.  The driver of the vehicle is said to have fled from the scene immediately after the incident.
The family of the children rushed them and the housemaid to Jahra Hospital where two of them were pronounced dead upon arrival; and the other two, as well as the housemaid, are in stable condition.
Security sources disclosed the driver of the speeding vehicle is an 18-year-old Kuwaiti who surrendered himself to the authorities later.  He is now under the custody of Jahra Police Station for questioning and other necessary legal action.

2 held with drugs: Two Kuwaitis were arrested by police in possession of drugs, reports Al-Shahid daily.
Patrolmen on routine duty in Salmiya spotted the citizens inside a car parked in front of a caf? joint as they were stuffing hashish into cigarette wrappers. The officers seized heroin and other narcotic pills from their possession and referred them to Drug Prosecution.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti youth was apprehended for possessing narcotic pills, a firearm and rounds of ammunition, reports Al-Rai daily.
]The youth was traveling along Al-Nuwaiseeb Road and appeared confused when patrolmen approached him for checking. The officers conducted a search inside his car and found 90 narcotic pills, firearms and ammunitions. He was referred to the relevant authority.
